Hello, The flashing check engine light indicates a misfire which is damaging to the catalytic converter. I have multiple engine lights on my 01 Volvo XC and it is running rough at rpms' greater than 3000rpm Could this engine misfire (P0300) and PO1237 be the sign of a failing ETM?

Jan 05, 2010 · Finally broke down and bought an OBDII tool to check the codes, and it showed P0300 (random cylinder misfires and multiple other P030x codes (misfires on all cylinders). After resetting the codes, I have noticed/felt misfires on cold starts, followed by the check engine/VSC coming on.
So, on Oct 27th, I got a check engine light. Prior to that, I've been noticing that, on a cold start, when shifting that I'm not getting much power on the first 3 gears (it just felt "sloshy", so to speak) I went to Auto Zone to get it diagnosed, returning a P0303: Misfire detected in cylinder #3.
If the misfire is happening randomly it may cause a check engine light to stay on and display the code P0300. If the misfire is specific to a cylinder, it may display a check engine light and a DTC such as P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305 or P0306.

Then low-and-behold the check engine light came on. When I accelerated, if even flashed. I stopped in at my local AutoZone and they read the following code (confirmed by my local independent whom I barely caught still open): P0302 - cylinder #2 misfire detected. My independent said culprits could be injector or spark plug/wire.
